Landing Page Roast Checklist

1. Pass the five-second test. Show the page to someone for five seconds. If they cannot say what it is and who it is for, the headline failed.
2. Say who it is for, in the visible copy. "For founders shipping AI-built apps" beats "for everyone" — a page that targets nobody converts nobody.
3. Lead with the outcome, not the feature list. Visitors buy the after-state. Features belong below the fold, translated into what they do for the buyer.
4. Keep one primary call to action above the fold. Three competing buttons is zero buttons. Pick the one action you want and make everything else visually secondary.
5. Make the CTA verb specific. "Get your verdict in 48 hours" outperforms "Submit" and "Learn more" — say what happens when they click.
6. Show the price, or say why not. A hidden price reads as "expensive". If you cannot show a number, show a range or the pricing model.
7. Cut every claim you cannot back. Guarantees, invented user counts, and "#1" badges get screenshotted. If you cannot prove it, delete it.
8. Use zero fake testimonials. No invented names, no stock-photo customers, no paraphrased praise. An honest "we are new" beats fabricated proof — and it is far safer.
9. Link real refund, contact, and privacy pages. Buyers scroll to the footer before paying strangers. Dead or missing trust links end the sale quietly.
10. Answer the top three objections on the page. Price, "will this work for my case", and "what if it does not" — an FAQ that answers real questions beats one that markets.
11. Read the whole page aloud. Anywhere you stumble, a visitor skims. Jargon you would have to explain in person does not belong on the page.
12. Test at 375px wide. No horizontal scroll, readable type without zooming, and a CTA button a thumb can actually hit.
13. Check the link preview. Paste the URL into a chat: the og:title, description, and image are the first impression most visitors get.
14. Click every link and button on the page. Placeholder hrefs and buttons wired to nothing are the most common landing-page defect we find.
15. Compare what the page promises with what the product does today. The gap between page and product is where refunds and angry posts come from. Sell the current version.
